No Deed Goes Unnoticed.

April 3, 2017

I recently got word of a project that has been going on for close to a year and a half in our facility that not many people knew about it. I want to shine some light on this special venture and give credit to all of those involved.

PAN Missions is a wonderful organization helping communities in Nicaragua, to which one of our long-time employees, Wynne Ross, has volunteered for the past 6 years.

When the organization lost their storage space in Guelph Nov 2015, Jamie Bailey (C.R. Plastic’s president) offered a part of the new warehouse to collect and store the items until a container could be arranged to send the goods down to Nicaragua. He also allowed our truck and staff to help move stored items from Elmira to Stratford as well.

With the generous help of many people & other organizations throughout Ontario a part of the warehouse grew close to 2,500 sq ft of donated goods. Some of the items include milk bags that will be made into mats for prisoners, hospital equipment, school supplies, fabric, bicycles and much more. Firefighters without borders also donated much needed equipment, jackets and hoses which are all badly needed. Finally, the much-anticipated container went out earlier this month to deliver all the goods to Nicaragua.

But the giving doesn’t stop there. Wynne recently went on a sewing mission to Nicaragua in February of this year. Many employees donated dresses to send down for them to practice on and Jamie & Trudie also donated some leftover Sunbrella fabric the company had along with an industrial serger. The trip was a great success and the donations were much appreciated.

On top of this Wynne organizes a PAN Missions “travelling store” and sells items that are made in Nicaragua here in Canada. Those funds are then brought back to the sewing co-ops in Nicaragua that have made the items. For the past 4 years Jamie has paid for the US exchange to convert the Canadian dollars for them.

Acts of kindness like this don’t come every day. What a great cause, great people and great company to help make these efforts possible. I couldn’t just let a story like this go untold. Great job to all who were involved!
